Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 15 August 2026

This document has two parts. Sections 1-7 cover Bountr's platform service — browsing, accounts, itinerary planning, the waitlist — and apply from the date of publication. Sections 8-12 cover booking trips; those provisions apply from the date on which Bountr Kft.'s travel intermediary activity is entered in the register of the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office and the booking function goes live on the Platform. We will announce this on the Platform. Until then, no booking can be initiated on the Platform. This is not a formality: Bountr does not carry out travel intermediary activity prior to registration.

This is a translation for information purposes. The Hungarian version of this document is the authoritative text. In the event of any discrepancy, the Hungarian text prevails.

3. Scope, acceptance and amendment

These Terms govern the contract between Bountr and the User for use of the Platform.

By starting to use the Platform, the User acknowledges these Terms. For registration and booking, the Terms must be accepted expressly by ticking a separate checkbox. Registration and booking are not possible without accepting the Terms.

The Terms are permanently available on the Platform and can be downloaded and printed. The contract concluded is not a written contract; Bountr does not file it and it is not subsequently retrievable. The language of the contract is Hungarian. The Platform is also available in English; in the event of a discrepancy, the Hungarian text prevails.

Bountr may amend these Terms unilaterally. Amendments are published on the Platform with the effective date. Amendments do not apply to Bookings already placed and confirmed; those remain governed by the Terms in force at the time of Booking.

Where an amendment materially affects a Consumer's rights or obligations, we notify registered Users by email at least 15 days before it takes effect. A User who does not accept the amendment may delete their account free of charge at any time before it takes effect.

4. Using the Platform

Who may use it, and how an account is created

Anyone may open and browse the Platform. Only natural persons aged 18 or over with full legal capacity may create an account and place a Booking.

Registration requires an email address and a password. The User must provide accurate information. The User is responsible for keeping their password confidential and for activity in their account. If the User suspects unauthorised access, they must change their password immediately and notify Bountr.

Deleting the account

The User may delete their account at any time, without giving reasons and free of charge, in account settings or by writing to contact@bountr.hu. Deletion does not affect Bookings already placed or the rights and obligations arising from them, nor the retention of data we are legally required to keep.

Suspension or deletion by Bountr

Bountr may suspend or delete an account where the User

  • has provided false information,
  • uses the Platform for unlawful purposes or in a manner infringing the rights of others,
  • obstructs the operation of the Platform or endangers its security — for example by automated querying, scraping or reverse engineering,
  • harasses or abuses another User, an Expert, or a member of Bountr staff,
  • otherwise materially breaches these Terms.

Bountr will inform the User of the suspension or deletion by email, stating the reason. The User may object to the decision at contact@bountr.hu; we will review and respond within 15 days.

Prohibited conduct

It is prohibited to download or copy Platform content by automated means, to reverse engineer the Platform or any part of it, to impersonate another person, or to use the Platform to build a competing service.

5. Itineraries, expert content and Pro-Tips

Itineraries are compiled by local experts on the basis of their own professional knowledge and experience. Recommendations in an Itinerary are good-faith professional suggestions, not guaranteed services.

Bountr endeavours to keep Itinerary content current and accurate, and contractually requires Experts to review their content. Nevertheless, a recommended restaurant may close, a programme may become unavailable, opening hours may change, or an attraction may be temporarily closed. Bountr accepts no liability for the opening hours, availability, quality or continued operation of the places listed in an Itinerary. If visiting a particular place is essential to your trip, please verify before departure.

Some programmes in an Itinerary are freely accessible places where no booking exists or is possible. The programmes the Agency actually books are set out in the booking confirmation.

Pro-Tips

The first sentence of each programme's expert tip is visible before booking; the full text becomes available after the Booking and payment are completed. The User expressly acknowledges this before placing a Booking.

Access to the Pro-Tips forms part of the Booking and is therefore deemed performed at the moment the confirmation page displays the full content.

Specific provisions for Experts

The relationship between the Expert and Bountr — including the licence rights in the Itinerary and the Expert's remuneration — is governed by a separate written contract. These Terms apply to the Expert in respect of their use of the Platform.

An uploaded Itinerary does not become public automatically. Bountr reviews every submitted Itinerary for quality and decides on its publication: it may approve publication, request revision while identifying the shortcomings, or reject it with reasons. Rejection does not affect the Expert's right to revise and resubmit.

Bountr may also remove or temporarily disable access to a published Itinerary where its content proves to be inaccurate, outdated, unlawful, or incompatible with the Platform's quality standards; the Expert will be notified with reasons.

Reporting infringing content

If you believe content on the Platform infringes your rights — for example copyright or image rights — please notify us at contact@bountr.hu, identifying the content and the grounds.

We will review the report without delay and, where justified, remove or disable access to the content. We will inform the reporter and, where possible, the person who uploaded the content of our decision.

6. The AI assistant

The AI assistant on the Platform supports itinerary planning: it explains the content of individual days, suggests which optional days may be dropped, and proposes programme swaps from the available pool.

The assistant suggests, it does not decide. Every change is approved by the Traveller.

The assistant is an automated system that can make mistakes and may provide inaccurate or incomplete information. Information from the assistant does not constitute professional, legal, medical or travel advice. Bountr accepts no liability for decisions based on the assistant's output, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

Processing of messages sent to the assistant is described in the privacy notice. Please do not share personal data with the assistant that is not needed for planning.

7. Waitlist and newsletter

Signing up for the waitlist and the newsletter is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time without giving reasons. Withdrawal does not affect the use of other Platform features.

Unsubscribing is possible via the one-click link at the bottom of every message, or by writing to contact@bountr.hu. We action unsubscribes without delay and in any case within three working days.

Signing up for the waitlist or the newsletter is never a condition of using the Platform or booking.

8. The legal position of the parties: who you contract with and about what

This is the most important section of these Terms, please read it carefully.

The travel package is provided by the partner Agency as tour operator within the meaning of Section 2(25) of Hungarian Act CLXIV of 2005 on Trade and of Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.). The travel contract is concluded between the Traveller and the Agency, not between the Traveller and Bountr.

Bountr acts as a travel intermediary within the meaning of Section 2(26) of the Act on Trade: under its contract with the Agency and on the Agency's mandate, it offers travel services to Travellers, and the booking is made in the Agency's name and upon the Agency's confirmation. Bountr carries out travel intermediary activity following notification to, and registration with, the competent authority under Government Decree 213/1996 (XII. 23.).

Insolvency protection

Insolvency protection for the travel package is provided by the Agency, through the financial security required under Government Decree 213/1996 (XII. 23.). The Agency states the identity and contact details of the entity providing that security in the pre-contractual information and in the booking confirmation.

Pre-contractual information

Before you place a Booking, the Platform provides you with the standard information form under Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.) (Annex 1 to that Decree) and the Agency's own contractual terms, which set out cancellation terms, amendment rules and the detailed content of the travel contract. A Booking cannot be finalised without these being made available.

Where the information displayed on the Platform differs from the Agency's information, the Agency's information prevails, because the travel contract is concluded with the Agency.

Travel insurance and travel documents

Bountr does not distribute insurance products and does not act as an insurance broker or agent. Travel insurance, cancellation insurance or other protection packages may only be offered to you by the Agency, on its own terms. Such insurance constitutes a separate legal relationship between you and the insurer or the Agency, to which Bountr is not a party.

Obtaining valid travel documents and complying with visa, entry and health — for example vaccination — requirements is the Traveller's responsibility. General information on these is provided by the Agency. Bountr is not liable for these.

Sections 8-12 apply from the date on which Bountr Kft.'s travel intermediary activity is entered in the register of the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office and the booking function goes live on the Platform. We will announce this on the Platform.

9. The booking process and formation of the contract

A booking proceeds in the following steps.

  • The Traveller selects an Itinerary and enters the trip parameters: dates, party size, departure city, accommodation tier and the days to keep.
  • The system assembles the itinerary and calculates the price.
  • The Traveller customises the itinerary if desired.
  • The Traveller provides the details needed for the booking.
  • The Traveller reviews the itemised price and booking summary, together with the Agency's information and the standard information form under Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.).
  • The Traveller accepts these Terms and the Agency's terms, and pays.

Correcting input errors

Before payment, the Traveller may return to any earlier step and amend any data entered. Before the order is submitted, the system displays a summary in which all entered data can be checked.

After payment, Booking details cannot be changed on the Platform; requests to amend must be addressed to the Agency.

When the contract is formed

By completing payment, the Traveller makes an offer. The travel contract is formed upon the Agency's confirmation. The Agency confirms or rejects the Booking within 48 hours of receipt.

Bountr sends an immediate automated confirmation of payment. This does not evidence formation of the travel contract, but confirms that we have received the order and transmitted it to the Agency.

If the Agency rejects the Booking, or does not respond within 48 hours, no travel contract is formed and the full amount paid is refunded in full. The refund is made by the Agency directly to the Traveller, by the same means as payment, within 14 days at the latest. Bountr monitors the refund and, at the Traveller's request, takes the matter up with the Agency.

Date changes due to flight availability

After confirmation, the Agency may find that available flights mean the actual dates or length of the trip differ from those planned. In that case the Agency or Bountr will contact you directly and discuss the options: adjusting the dates, dropping a day, or adding a free day.

Any change requires your agreement. If you accept none of the proposed solutions, you may withdraw from the Booking and the full amount paid is refunded.

10. Price and payment

The Trip Price displayed on the Platform is the final, all-inclusive price including all costs and taxes, approved by the Agency as tour operator. The price is shown itemised: accommodation, flights, programmes and transfers. No fee or surcharge appears at the payment step that was not shown earlier in the process.

The Traveller pays Bountr no fee, commission or intermediary cost of any kind. Bountr is remunerated by the Agency under a separate agreement.

The Traveller pays the price of the Booking directly to the Agency, through the payment interface available on the Platform. The payment is technically processed via Stripe, in which the Agency is the merchant of record and the amount is credited directly to the Agency's payment account. Bountr does not collect, process or hold traveller funds.

Bountr does not see or store any card or banking data. This is handled solely by the payment provider under its own security standards.

Prices are displayed in euro (EUR). If payment is made in another currency, the exchange rate and any conversion cost are determined by the payment provider or your bank, over which Bountr has no influence.

Price changes and failed payment

After confirmation of the Booking, the Trip Price may be increased only in the narrow circumstances and subject to the limits set out in Section 18 of Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.) — changes in fuel prices, taxes or fees, or exchange rates. You are notified of any price change by the Agency. If the increase exceeds the threshold set in the Decree, you may withdraw from the contract.

If payment fails, no Booking is created and no data is transmitted to the Agency. The Traveller may restart the process; the data entered is retained so it does not need to be re-entered.

11. Cancellation, amendment and withdrawal

Section 2(i) of Hungarian Government Decree 45/2014 (XII. 22.) on the detailed rules of contracts between consumers and businesses expressly excludes package travel contracts from its scope. Accordingly, the 14-day right of withdrawal without giving reasons, familiar from distance contracts, does not apply to the travel contract. You expressly acknowledge this before placing a Booking.

Before the start of the trip you may withdraw from the travel contract at any time under Section 21 of Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.), against payment of an appropriate and justifiable cancellation fee. The specific amount, bands and calculation of that fee are set by the Agency's terms, which you receive before placing a Booking and which form part of the booking confirmation.

Where unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances occur at or in the immediate vicinity of the destination which significantly affect the performance of the package or the carriage of passengers to the destination, you may withdraw from the contract without paying a cancellation fee, and the full amount paid is refunded. This claim is made against the Agency.

If the Agency cancels the package, your rights — refund, compensation, alternative arrangements — are governed by Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.) and the Agency's terms.

How refunds are made

Refunds are always made by the Agency directly to you, from its own payment account, because that is where your payment was received. Bountr does not and cannot make refunds, as it does not hold traveller funds. If a problem arises with a refund, notify us at contact@bountr.hu and we will take the matter up with the Agency on your behalf.

Ending Bountr's platform service

The contract between Bountr and the User for use of the Platform is free of charge. The User may terminate this relationship at any time, without giving reasons and free of charge, by deleting their account. In substance this offers more than the 14-day right of withdrawal applicable to contracts for consideration.

The full text of the Pro-Tips becomes available immediately upon completion of payment. You expressly request this when placing the Booking and acknowledge that this digital content is deemed performed once performance has begun.

12. Liability

Bountr is liable for its own intermediary activity: operating the Platform, making the expert content available, and transmitting booking data to the Agency accurately, completely and in good time.

Bountr is not liable for

  • performance or improper performance or failure of the travel package, for which the Agency as tour operator is responsible,
  • breach, delay or insolvency of the Agency,
  • the opening hours, availability, quality or continued operation of places listed in an Itinerary,
  • the conduct of actual service providers — hotels, airlines, programme operators, transfer providers,
  • consequences arising from false or incomplete information provided by the Traveller,
  • consequences arising from missing travel documents, visas or health requirements,
  • temporary unavailability of the Platform due to maintenance, hosting provider failure, or a cause outside Bountr's control.

Limitation of liability and force majeure

Bountr's liability in damages for breach of contract is limited to the amount of the intermediary commission due to Bountr from the Agency in respect of the Booking concerned.

This limitation does not apply to liability for breach caused intentionally, or for breach causing loss of life or damage to physical integrity or health, nor in any case where the law does not permit the limitation or exclusion of liability.

Neither party is liable for failure to perform or delay caused by an unforeseeable and unavoidable circumstance outside its control — in particular natural disaster, war, epidemic, official measure, strike, prolonged power failure or telecommunications outage. This does not affect the Traveller's rights under Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.).

These Terms do not limit or exclude any right conferred on Consumers by law.

13. Data protection

The processing of personal data is governed by the privacy notice available on the Platform, which forms an integral annex to these Terms. The use of cookies is governed by the cookie notice.

In short: the controller is Bountr Kft.; booking data is transmitted to the partner Agency in order to perform the Booking, and the Agency becomes an independent controller in respect of that data; Bountr does not see or store card data.

14. Complaints

Where a complaint should be addressed depends on its subject.

How we handle complaints

If you are unsure, contact us. If a complaint falls outside our remit, we forward it to the Agency and inform you. As a travel intermediary, we forward your complaint to the tour operator Agency without delay, as required by Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.).

We investigate and remedy oral complaints immediately where possible. Where that is not possible, or where you disagree with the handling, we take a record of the complaint. We respond substantively to written complaints within 30 days of receipt and send our response in writing.

We give reasons for rejecting a complaint and inform you of available remedies. We retain the complaint record and a copy of our response for five years under Section 17/A of Hungarian Act CLV of 1997 on Consumer Protection.

Conciliation board

If you are a Consumer and your complaint has not been resolved, you may turn to the conciliation board competent for your place of residence or stay. The board competent for Bountr's registered seat is the Budapest Conciliation Board (Budapesti Békéltető Testület).

Bountr has a duty to cooperate in conciliation board proceedings, including submitting a written response and attending hearings.

Authorities and courts

Consumer protection complaints may be addressed to the county government office competent for your place of residence, and nationally to the Hungarian Authority for Consumer Protection.

Please note that the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform ceased operating on 20 July 2025 and no new complaints can be submitted through it. The conciliation board and authority routes above are available instead.

You may also pursue your claims before a court. Consumers may bring proceedings before the court of their place of residence or stay.

15. Final provisions

These Terms and the contracts formed under them are governed by Hungarian law. This choice of law may not have the result of depriving a Consumer of the protection afforded by mandatory consumer protection rules of the Member State of their habitual residence.

The parties will seek to resolve disputes by negotiation. Failing that, the Hungarian courts have jurisdiction. Bountr may bring proceedings against a Consumer only before the courts of the Member State of the Consumer's domicile; the Consumer may bring proceedings against Bountr before the court of their own domicile.

If any provision of these Terms proves invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in force. The invalid provision is replaced by a valid provision closest to the parties' intention.

The User may not transfer rights or obligations under these Terms without Bountr's prior written consent. Bountr may transfer its rights and obligations to a legal successor, or to the acquiring or successor company in the event of a sale or transformation of the business; the User will be informed in advance.

Matters not regulated in these Terms are governed by Act V of 2013 on the Civil Code, Act CLXIV of 2005 on Trade, Government Decree 213/1996 (XII. 23.), Government Decree 472/2017 (XII. 28.), Government Decree 45/2014 (XII. 22.), Act CVIII of 2001 on Electronic Commerce Services, and Act CLV of 1997 on Consumer Protection, all of Hungary.

These Terms were drawn up in Hungarian. The English version is provided for information; in the event of a discrepancy, the Hungarian text prevails.
